About Me

I’m an amateur photographer based in East Devon, UK. My photographic journey began many years ago, using a Pentax camera and Kodak film to take pictures of birds and other wild creatures – or in many cases the space where they had been just before I pressed the shutter! Over time, I embraced Canon digital equipment, taking macro images of butterflies, hoverflies, bees and dragonflies, before finally turning my attention to close-up flower photography.

In recent years, I have experimented with abstract photography – in particular multiple exposure and intentional creative movement - applying these techniques to landscapes, buildings and flowers. For me, the attraction of abstract photography is the excitement of exploring and experimenting with diverse ideas, to create images that reflect a personal take on the subject rather than a literal representation. Some retain recognizable elements, while others leave the interpretation of the image entirely up to the viewer.

I hope you enjoy my photographs. If you'd like to use any of them for educational or charitable purposes etc please feel free; all I ask is an acknowledgement if any of them are published and a message letting me know how they’ll be used, or where they can be found. I am also loading my pictures on Instagram and you can navigate there via the Useful Links page on this site.

23rd March - with sun and warmer weather finally arriving, flowers have started to bloom in the garden. I've added three pictures of a Clematis Stellata in different stages of its life, plus one of a Wallflower and one of a small bunch of Forget-Me-Nots at the start of the Flowers section.

29th March - Winter returns to E Devon, so I'm taking pictures indoors again. I've added a picture of Gypsophila at the start of the Flowers section. Also, a friend and onetime co-exhibitor Mike Ilsley has got his new website up and running, so I've added a link in the Useful Links section. If you'd like to see (or even buy!) some classy lino prints and cards, do take a look at his site.
